ICELAND

Texture.jpg

Iceland is the most geologically alive place you can stand.

Iceland sits directly on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, the boundary where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are pulling apart at roughly the width of a human fingernail per year. The island is essentially being made in real time, which explains the volcanic activity, the geothermal heat venting through every crack in the lava fields, and the general sense that the ground beneath you has opinions. This isn't metaphor. It's geology, and it's worth understanding before you arrive because it makes everything you see make more sense.

The challenge with Iceland is that its popularity over the past fifteen years has concentrated an enormous number of visitors into a fairly narrow corridor. The Golden Circle, the Blue Lagoon, the south coast waterfalls: these are real and worth seeing, but they now operate at a scale that works against the qualities that made Iceland compelling in the first place. The interior highlands, accessible only in summer when the mountain roads open, receive a fraction of that traffic and deliver something considerably closer to the Iceland that existed before it became a bucket list fixture.

The Westfjords in the northwest are the oldest part of the island geologically and the least visited region by a significant margin, a dramatic peninsula of fjords and bird cliffs and small fishing communities that feels genuinely remote in a way the south coast no longer does. The Eastfjords are similarly quiet. We design Iceland itineraries that use the famous sites as entry points rather than destinations, and build the rest of the trip around the parts of the island that justify the journey.

Ways to explore

Think of these as a glimpse of what’s possible. Together, we’ll design a journey that reflects your style and spirit.

LAND OF FIRE & ICE

Discover the raw extremes that make Iceland unlike anywhere on Earth. Trek across ancient lava fields still warm from the planet’s core, stand before thundering waterfalls, and explore vast glaciers where the ice crackles with blue light. Every step through this elemental land is a reminder that the Earth here is still alive — constantly shifting, forging, and renewing itself before your eyes.

PRIVATE SUPER JEEP EXPEDITIONS

Venture far from the beaten path in custom-built Super Jeeps, designed to tackle Iceland’s wildest terrain. Expert local guides lead you deep into volcanic highlands, black sand deserts, and glacier-cut canyons inaccessible to most travelers. Whether fording glacial rivers or watching the midnight sun ignite the sky, these journeys are pure exploration — intimate, thrilling, and entirely your own.

GEOTHERMAL ESCAPES

Sink into Iceland’s geothermal heartbeat — where steaming pools meet snow-covered ridges and silence carries only the hiss of the earth. From the iconic Blue Lagoon to remote hot springs tucked between mountains, these moments of warmth amid ice invite complete surrender. It’s wellness in its purest form: elemental, restorative, and deeply connected to the rhythm of the land.

COASTAL & ARCTIC WILDLIFE ENCOUNTERS

Journey along Iceland’s rugged coastlines and Arctic frontiers in search of life that thrives on the edge of the world. Sail through fjords where whales breach beside your boat, walk cliffs alive with nesting puffins, and snowmobile across glaciers beneath endless skies. These encounters remind you that in Iceland, even the wild feels close — a privilege, not a spectacle.

Where you'll stay

We don't book beds. We select base camps. Every property here was chosen because it earns its place in the landscape and adds something to the journey that a different property simply couldn't. Some are remote. Some are remarkable. Most are both.

FOSSHOTEL GLACIER LAGOON

A contemporary wilderness lodge set between glacier tongues and the Atlantic, ideal for exploring Vatnajökull National Park and the surrounding ice fields in comfort.

SKÁLAKOT MANOR HOTEL

A working farm at the foot of Eyjafjallajökull, run by fourth-generation farmers, with 14 individually designed rooms in Art Deco style and a south coast location that puts Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss, Reynisfjara, and the glacier tongues of Mýrdalsjökull all within striking distance. The spa handles the evenings. The on-site Icelandic horse breeding operation offers riding tours from short treks to full-day excursions across the surrounding terrain. The combination of working farm character, boutique comfort, and genuine south coast access makes this the most distinctive property in the region at this tier.

TORFHÚS RETREAT

On Iceland's Golden Circle near Thingvellir, with essentially zero light pollution, making aurora viewing from the property exceptional. Twenty-five inky-black cabins lined with turf, with interiors of alpine wood, leather seating, and warm lighting, each with a private basalt hot tub outside. The chef prepares dinners every evening using ingredients sourced from within ten miles, and the astronomical observatory with its roll-off roof and telescopes offers stargazing between aurora watches. The property has a philosophy, and it shows: breathe deeply, walk slowly, take time with the simple things. Five nights here would not feel like too many.

ADVENTURE,
ELEVATED.

Iceland will make you feel like you're standing at the beginning of the world. Some days, you practically are. Let's get you there.
