YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Planning meaningful travel often raises a few practical questions.

Below are answers to the topics we’re most frequently asked about working with Peregrine Travel Advisors. If you do not see your question here, we are always happy to discuss it during a consultation.

PLANNING YOUR JOURNEY

How far in advance should I start planning my trip?

Many of our journeys involve boutique lodges, seasonal access, and highly sought-after guides. To secure the best availability, we recommend beginning the planning process six to eight months in advance.

For destinations with limited capacity, such as African safaris or expedition-style journeys, twelve months or more is often advisable. For closer destinations or simpler itineraries, shorter timelines can still work depending on availability.

Can I adapt sample itineraries from your site?

Absolutely. The itineraries on our website are intended to spark ideas and illustrate what is possible. Every journey we design is fully customized. Destinations, accommodations, pacing, and experiences can all be adjusted to reflect your interests and travel style.

What kind of traveler are your trips best suited for?

Our journeys are designed for travelers who want more than a checklist of sights. They are for those who value meaningful experiences, thoughtful design, and exceptional service.

Many of our clients are couples, families, or solo travelers who appreciate immersive exploration paired with comfort and seamless logistics.

What destinations do you specialize in?

Our strongest expertise includes destinations known for immersive landscapes and meaningful exploration. These include Patagonia, alpine Europe and Asia, Central America, South America, Western Canada, and the great national parks of North America. We also design journeys across other areas of the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the polar regions through our trusted global partners.

ON THE GROUND

What types of accommodations do you book?

Through our affiliation with Virtuoso, we partner with a curated collection of boutique hotels, luxury lodges, and exceptional retreats around the world. In certain destinations we may also arrange private villas or residences that meet our standards for comfort, service, and authenticity.

The accommodations we select depend on the destination, your travel style, and the experience you want to have.

Will you take care of all logistics & travel support?

Yes. We coordinate all core elements of your journey including accommodations, private transfers, guided experiences, and logistical support throughout your trip.

We can also assist with air travel arrangements; however, if you prefer to book flights independently, we simply coordinate the itinerary around your confirmed schedule.

What if something changes during my trip?

Travel occasionally requires flexibility. If plans need to shift due to weather, logistics, or personal needs, we work closely with our trusted partners on the ground to adjust arrangements quickly and smoothly.

Our goal is simple: you should always feel supported and able to focus on the experience.

Can you help with travel insurance & paperwork?

Yes. We guide you through the practical details of international travel including visas, entry requirements, permits, and recommended immunizations where applicable.

We also recommend trusted travel insurance providers and can incorporate insurance options into your proposal if desired.

WORKING WITH PEREGRINE

How much does it cost to work with Peregrine?

We charge a professional planning fee starting at $250 to design and manage custom itineraries.

This fee covers the time, research, and expertise required to craft a highly personalized journey, as well as the support we provide before and during your travels. It allows us to focus entirely on designing the best possible experience rather than relying solely on commissions.

Can I build a trip that balances adventure with rest or wellness?

Absolutely. Many of our favorite itineraries combine active exploration with time to slow down and recharge. A day of hiking or wildlife tracking might be followed by a quiet afternoon at a remote lodge, a spa treatment, or a relaxed evening overlooking the landscape.

This balance sits at the heart of our philosophy of Adventure, Elevated.

Do you work with families?

Yes. Many of our clients travel as families (we do too!), and we design journeys that balance meaningful experiences with the right pace for each age group.

Do you only plan luxury trips?

We focus on thoughtfully designed journeys that balance exceptional experiences with comfort and seamless logistics. While our itineraries often include boutique or luxury accommodations, the defining feature is not extravagance but quality, access, and attention to detail.

STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?

If you would like to discuss an idea for a future journey, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Every trip begins with a conversation.
