The floatplane drop onto a remote Alaskan river system. The private permit access into canyon country that sees a fraction of the traffic of the national park next door. The backcountry lodge in the North Cascades that doesn't advertise because it doesn't need to. The sea kayaking route through the San Juan Islands that takes a week and encounters almost no one.
This country has been set aside and protected at a scale that most Americans take for granted. The National Park system alone encompasses 85 million acres, and the designated wilderness areas, national monuments, and wild and scenic river corridors add tens of millions more. The infrastructure for experiencing all of it ranges from world-class to essentially nonexistent, and knowing which is which, and how to move between them, is where the real design work happens.
We build American wilderness itineraries for people who have already done the obvious trips and are ready for something that requires more imagination to find. SUNRISE ACCESS & QUIET HORIZONS
Experience America’s most iconic parks before they wake — private dawn entry arranged through specialist rangers and guides. As the light climbs the canyon walls or spills across alpine ridgelines, you witness landscapes in their truest form: hushed, unhurried, and yours alone for a fleeting hour of stillness.
REMOTE WILDLIFE TRACKING
Move beyond roadside sightings to deliberate, respectful pursuit — guided by naturalists who read wind direction, prints, and terrain like a living map. Whether shadowing wolf movements in Yellowstone, watching bison migrations at distance, or locating desert bighorn at elevation, this is wildlife seen on its terms, not ours.
BACKCOUNTRY & STILLNESS EXPERIENCES
Far from public bathhouses and highway pull-offs, soak in seldom-visited natural springs reached only by hike, snowcat, or helicopter transfer. Pair the immersion with guided breathwork, cold-plunge glacial pools, dark-sky astronomy, or simple fireside silence — restorative rituals drawn directly from the land’s own rhythms.

Where you'll stay
We don't book beds. We select base camps. Every property here was chosen because it earns its place in the landscape and adds something to the journey that a different property simply couldn't. Some are remote. Some are remarkable. Most are both.
RUSH CREEK LODGE
A newer hillside property just outside Yosemite's Big Oak Flat entrance, built across twenty acres of pine forest with hillside villas, a full-service spa, and easy access to the Tuolumne and Merced sequoia groves. The design leans contemporary rustic rather than historic, and the property runs a genuinely active recreation program, fly fishing gear, mountain bikes, guided ecotours all available on-site. It's a comfortable, well-run base with easy proximity to some of the park's lesser-known entrances.
UNDER CANVAS GRAND CANYON
A safari-style glamping camp set on a hundred and sixty acres of piñon and juniper forest, twenty-five minutes from the South Rim entrance. Tents run considerably more comfortable than the word "camping" suggests, king beds, wood-burning stoves, private decks, most with their own bathroom. The whole property is built and lit as a certified Dark Sky destination, with dedicated stargazing tents and evening star parties for guests who want the night sky treated as seriously as the canyon itself.
THE RESORT AT PAWS UP
A thirty-seven-thousand-acre working cattle ranch in the Blackfoot Valley, the same river that inspired A River Runs Through It running directly through the property. Guests choose between private ranch homes with full kitchens and fireplaces, or genuinely elevated safari-style tents along the river, no shared lodge, personal chefs and camp butlers instead. Activities run into the dozens, horseback riding, fly-fishing, off-roading, a proper spa, and dining built entirely around Montana's own seasonal ingredients, bison and huckleberry among them.
