PATAGONIA CROSSING
ARGENTINA
Patagonia is defined by movement: wind across steppe, glaciers carving valleys, boots on ancient trails. This journey traces that rhythm, linking dramatic mountain terrain with open landscape and warm refuge each evening. Days are shaped by weather and light, nights by firelit lodges and quiet reflection. It's Patagonia experienced from the inside out, earned trail by trail.
Note that everything you see here is an example of what your trip could look like. Your adventure will be tailored specifically to you.

WHY THIS ADVENTURE
This is Patagonia without spectacle for spectacle's sake, an immersion that values flow, effort, and reward in equal measure. Moving between bases, the journey emphasizes continuity rather than conquest, letting the landscape unfold gradually from the granite spires of El Chaltén south to the glacier-fed waters of Lago Argentino. Distance here becomes a kind of clarity. The steppe opens, the sky widens, and the noise that followed you from home stops being audible somewhere around day three. Designed for travelers who want Patagonia earned rather than rushed, the experience balances purposeful days with the particular warmth of remote lodges that know exactly what their guests need at the end of one.
JOURNEY FLOW
The journey begins among the granite towers of El Chaltén, where trails wind through lenga forest and along glacial lakes toward the iconic profiles of Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre. Days here are full, guided by terrain and weather, shaped by whatever the mountain decides to show you. Movement south follows the logic of the landscape: forests give way to open steppe, peaks recede behind wider horizons, and the road eventually reaches the shore of Lago Argentino. From there, the only way to Estancia Cristina is by boat, a three-hour crossing past drifting icebergs and the face of Upsala Glacier. That passage is not a transfer. It's the transition into the second half of the journey, and it sets the tone for everything that follows.
HIGHLIGHTS
WAYS TO PERSONALIZE
The itinerary has room to go deeper in either direction. Private guiding at El Chaltén unlocks advanced routes and high-mountain terrain that group programs don't reach. In El Calafate, glacier trekking on the surface of Perito Moreno with crampons and a specialist guide is a legitimate extension of the ice theme that runs through the whole journey. And for those drawn to fly-fishing, the Río Caterina at Estancia Cristina is one of the few places in Patagonia with access to King salmon runs between January and mid-March.
