PRIMAL EARTH ODYSSEY
ECUADOR & GALÁPAGOS
Ecuador moves through three ecological worlds in the space of a single country, and this journey covers all of them. The Andean highlands open with volcanic horizons and a working hacienda that has been in the same family for over a century. Then the Amazon, where the journey to the lodge involves a flight and a two-hour canoe ride down the Napo River, and the forest starts delivering before you've even arrived. Then the Galápagos, where the wildlife operates on its own terms and evolution is not a concept but something you watch play out at close range. Twelve nights. Three worlds. The kind of trip people spend years thinking about and longer remembering.
Note that everything you see here is an example of what your trip could look like. Your adventure will be tailored specifically to you.

WHY THIS ADVENTURE
This journey is an immersion into Earth at its most primal, where fire, forest, and sea shape both landscape and life. Ecuador compresses an extraordinary range of ecosystems into a relatively small country, and each region feels genuinely unlike the others. The highlands carry the weight of four centuries of history alongside a biodiversity that produced the condor and the spectacled bear. The Amazon basin around Yasuní holds more bird species than all of North America combined. The Galápagos gave Darwin the evidence he needed, and the wildlife there has had no reason to develop fear of humans in the time since. We crafted this journey for travelers who want to engage with the natural world rather than observe it from a distance, with guides who know their corners of it with genuine depth, and lodges that belong to the landscapes they sit in.
JOURNEY FLOW
The odyssey begins in the Andes, where Hacienda Zuleta sits at 9,600 feet on a 4,000-acre working farm two hours north of Quito. The highlands here feel both ancient and alive: condors rehabilitated on the property, and horses bred across generations. From here the journey descends into the Amazon basin, the transition from mountain to jungle as dramatic as any on Earth. The Napo River carries you deeper into the Yasuní Biosphere Reserve, one of the most biodiverse places on the planet, where the lodge sits on a lake 70 kilometers from the nearest road. Then west to the Galápagos, where the islands reveal their distinct characters through daily excursions: lava fields, turquoise coves, wildlife that poses for no one and ignores everyone equally.
HIGHLIGHTS
WAYS TO PERSONALIZE
A private photography guide in the Amazon or the Galápagos changes the quality of what you bring back considerably, particularly for anyone serious about wildlife or underwater photography. Extended time in the Yasuní with night walks and access to community-led cultural experiences adds dimensions that the standard program doesn't reach. Upgrading the Galápagos portion to a private small-ship charter allows for a custom-routed exploration of the outer islands that the day-cruise model can't provide. And for post-expedition restoration, the hot springs at Papallacta, two hours from Quito in the Andes, offer exactly the kind of landing that a trip this full tends to need.
